Sri Malladi Punnaiah Sastry was born on 17-09-1944 in Gurajala village in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Sri M. Narasimha Murthy and Smt. Venkata Lakshmamma were his parents. Punnaiah Sastry lost his father at early age. The responsibility of whole family was taken up by his brother who was eldest of all. After completing his school education, he joined in the college where Master E.K. was his lecturer. He was staying with the family members of Master E.K. in their house. While he was a child he was almost at the verge of his life due to deep sickness and was healed by a disciple of Master M.N. with the prayer of Master C.V.V. After coming to the Guntur, he became an ardent follower and disciple of Master E.K. He was initiated into the study of Srimad Bhagavatam in his childhood by his mother. He was initiated and trained into the spiritual life by Master E.K. Since he was very delicate regarding his health, he was very much taken care by the Mother (wife of Master E.K.). Apart from studies in the college, he got trained by Master E.K. in deeper study of Literature, Astrology, Homoeopathy, Theosophy and study of the scriptures. After leaving the college, he got appointed as teacher in Mathematics. After some years, he did his postgraduation from Andhra University in Telugu literature. After that he worked as Telugu teacher in high schools and as lecturer in the junior colleges. He has propagated the writings and teachings of Master E.K. in general public in many villages and towns wherever he worked in his profession. Thus several people became disciples of Master E.K. through him. He was attending the gurupoojas unfailingly wherever they were conducted. He has joined medical tours in all the centers along with Sri E. Ananta Krishna and Dr. E.V.M. Acharya. Also he worked with Sri E. Ananta Krishna, Dr. E.V.M. Acharya, Sri B.V. Narasimha Raju and Sri V. Aanandacharyulu in conducting Yoga, Homoeopathy and Astrology training classes. He took the main role in publishing the Telugu monthly magazine “Swetadweepam”. Also he organised a good team in transcribing Master’s discourses on various subjects in Telugu as well as in English and bringing them out into the form of books. Also he became a close follower of Sri Kotha Ramakotaiah garu and Sri Sri Sri Lakshmana Yateendrulu along with Sri E. Ananta Krishna and many members of the brotherhood. Along with Sri E. Ananta Krishna he conducted Saptaham programmes in Srimad Ramayana and Srimad Bhagavatam. After the departure of Master E.K. Sri Punnaiah Sastry wrote commentaries on many works of Master E.K. in Telugu. Also he wrote lucid commentary on Valmiki Ramayanam and a few parts of Mahabharata. Apart from this he brought out his experiences with Master E.K. and also with Sri Kotha Ramakotaiah garu. These works later became beacons of light for many aspirants who made deeper study of the lives of Master E.K. and Sri Kotha Ramakotaiah garu.
